Salvar al HMVS Cerberus

Hola a todos,

Este es mi primer post por aqui. Me llamo Daniel y siempre me gusto todo lo relacionado con la historia belica. Soy miembro de la asociacion "friends of the Cerberus" y por ello he decidido escribir aqui una peticion de ayuda desde Australia. El HMVS Cerberus es un acorazado tipo "monitor" del siglo XIX. De estos buques ya casi no queda ni uno. Este se dejo como rompeolas hundido, pero no llegando el agua a cubierta en los 20. Al grano: El gobierno australiano cedio 500.000 dolares para crear una estructura para que las torretas no se vinieran abajo. Ahora, de repente, se han echado para atras y, aunque el dinero no lo pueden retraer, si que pueden cambiar el porposito al que se dedique...el cual quieren que sea el de pintar el naufragio y poner cartelitos en la costa...tanto dinero para eso? si esta a punto de venirse abajo todo ello?

Acordaos de que Espania...como gran imperio naval que fue, no tiene ni un misero ejemplo de embarcacion historica...por lo menos de la armada. Es muy triste, porque si habeis visitado algun barco historico, es algo espectacular!

· Victorian Heritage Register
· National Heritage List
· Register of the National Estate
· National Trust Register
· Endangered Places List

I urge you to direct Heritage Victoria to allow the use of the already obtained $500,000 commonwealth grant, to complete the bracing of the gun turrets on HMVS Cerberus. By abandoning the turret-bracing project, the superstructure of the ship will collapse and Cerberus will be lost forever.

My name is Daniel and I really would like you to see the Cerberus dilemma from another angle. I am a Spaniard and I would like to share my perspective. At the moment, Australia has a complete battleship from the 19th century; that is more than what Spain has, for Spain has zero ships from its once great navies....what a gap in our historical heritage! If I could fight for a historic naval ship in Spain, I would, but it seems there are none left above water. What is more...I would, as a Spaniard, trade one of our dear castles for the chance of having just one of our old historic ships, for castles we have many (I'm not complaining here), but ships, none. Australia has the opportunity of saving a ship that much older countries would wish have. As I've done before, I compare the Cerberus to a castle, for Australia has a younger history and does not have these magnificent buildings....but it does! It has a floating one, one of iron and with great guns. I console myself in the fact that, though in the water we have little history left still floating, on land we have marvels that span centuries, castles and cathedrals, but Australia can't afford to destroy this piece of history! It's your old fortress, your floating fortress.

I really wouldn't want Australia to make the same mistake that we have made. Please save the Cerberus from collapse.

· Registro de Propiedad Nacional
· Regsitro del Patrimonio Nacional
· Lista de Lugares en Peligro

Le insto a que pueda dirigir al Patrimonio Victoria a que permita usar la ya obtenida subvencion de $500.000 de la Commonwealth, para completar el soporte para las torretas en el HMVS Cerberus. Al abandonar el proyecto del soporte de las torretas, la superestructura del barco se derrumbara y el Cerberus desaparecera para siempre

El email que mande yo, no lo traducire, pero os dare la idea principal. Comento que como espaniol siento mucho la perdida de nuestro patrimonio maritimo, los barcos en particular, ya que no tenemos ningun acorazado ni nada por el estilo, aunque nuestra historia y naval son mas antiguas que la de Australia en su presente estado. Comparo al Cerberus con un Castillo, y les animo a preservarlo como tal...un castillo flotante. Mas o menos es lo que intento decir.
